ORIGIN
This natural processed coffee is from the famous Aceh province in northern Sumatra (Indonesia), more specifically the Pegasing district. Asman Gayo Mill is a micromill run by Asman Arianto, who has won the Cup of Excellence. It serves as a joint facility for several small coffee producers from the Pantan Musara area and it has also helped to get the producers back on their feet when most of them lost their homes and former farms in a tsunami. With the help of Asman Gayo Mill, they now focus on coffee, which they grow in this very diverse area, which has beaches, mountains, volcanic soil and rainforest.
Virtually all coffee farms in Sumatra are very small (on average 1 hectare). In the northern part of Sumatra, 95% of coffee producers are so-called small producers, and 80% of the area's coffee producers are women.
